PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To practice giving instructions and time management.

BEFORE THE MEETING

Read through the agenda and confirm the times required for each speech.
Prepare an explanation of your role as Timer.

DURING THE MEETING

Choose a seat directly opposite the lectern.
Set up the timing equipment so the lights are easily visible from the lectern.
Make sure you know how to operate the stopwatch and lights.
Explain your role as Timer, when asked by the Chairman.
For each role during the meeting, record the names and times for the roles.
As well as indicating time limits to speakers and evaluators, give notice to the Chairman, Toastmaster and Table Topics Master when they are running overtime.
Give a report of the roles and times you recorded.
